Vaser Liposuction Patient Story

vaser liposuction in polandMy experience has been nothing but positive from my perspective I’d dreamt of vaser lipo for about 2-3yrs after a friend mentioned it to me after watching This Morning!

All the UK firms treated me like some meat on a conveyor belt and a mobile cash machine! It was only after a friend mentioned looking at having surgery abroad that I stumbled upon secret surgery.

The difference in care, support, price, friendships etc since discovering Secret Surgery has changed my life. As for the lipo, I wanted to get rid of my muffin top and marsupial pouch (as I called it) after having 2 kids in quick succession. So, much to the shock of all my friends (thanks mainly to the shock horror stories from the media) I headed out to Poland alone for the procedure.

I was so confident in Angela and Secret Surgery, I knew there was nothing to fear. The apartment was amazing, gr8 location and right in the city centre to venture round. Jack & Aga were fabulous and always contactable as was Angela. The hospital was jaw dropping amazing. Not all the nurses speak English so could sometimes be difficult in communicating but there was always an English speaking nurse somewhere on duty.

Dr W is a man of few words…. But a surgeon genius. He removed 2.5litres of fat and the results were immediate. I must admit for me there was considerable discomfort immediately after surgery and for 2wks after and the corset they tell you to wear, I wore for much longer (day & night) for probably 4-6wks but that was just a personal thing.

I used arnica salve every day to reduce bruising. I also massage my abdo every day and do regular exercises specifically in that area. When I first looked into this, I kind of ignored everyone who said this procedure isn’t a quick fix… It is and it isn’t, I still invest my time and energy into looking after the gr8 work of Dr W (the scars have virtually disappeared unless u look really close!) and 8mths on the results are as good as the day after surgery.

You’ll experience highs and lows after surgery as there are points during early recovery where you go a bit lumpy and you think to yourself ‘what the hell have I done’ but again, for me Angela was there throughout my journey giving insight, advice, reassurance etc… and still is; the care doesn’t just stop once the surgery is complete and the plane back on UK soil.

I hope this brief introduction of my experience helps others reach the right decision as to whether this procedure is for you or not. I cannot fault the company, team, hospital, clinicians (and anyone else involved behind the scenes.

How to stay slim after liposuction

0905-flat-absNobody wants to fall into the trap of paying thousands of pounds for liposuction only to see the fat pile back on in the months afterwards. This shouldn’t happen if you eat sensibly and respect your body, but the best way to keep your body in top shape after lipo is to slowly ease yourself back into proper exercise.

Straight after your surgery, it’s not advisable to start doing anything physical at all, though as soon as a few days after surgery you can start walking around. You should only walk short distances at this point, but if you want slightly more of a challenge you could use elliptical machines in a gym very gently. Just go easy on yourself, and make sure you stop straight away if you start to hurt.

In the long run, you need to try and work your way back up to exercising regularly – 3 times a week or more. Swimming, running and cycling will all do the trick nicely, and swimming is a fantastic option a month or so after surgery when you may still not be ready for high-impact sports.

Whatever you, just make sure you choose something that you enjoy, and listen to your body if you feel you’re pushing yourself too hard: the key to a long-lasting exercise routine is to make it a fun one!

What kind of lipo is for me?

flat_tummy1Liposuction: we’ve all heard of it. But did you know there are different kinds of liposuction? As with any procedure that’s been around for years, new and improved technologies come along, and improve the options available to those who want to undergo surgery.

There are four most common kinds of liposuction – VASER lipo, which is what we offer here at Secret Surgery; laser assisted lipo; suction-assisted lipo; and power-assisted lipo.

VASER® ultrasound-assisted liposuction uses specially designed probes that deliver ultrasound waves into the fat layer to selectively target and emulsify (liquefy) fat. In other words, it’s safe, efficient, and effective. Unfortunately, not all cosmetic surgery clinics have adopted this newer method yet – though we have.

More commonly, you’ll be offered suction-assisted lipo. During this procedure, a cannula – a small suction probe – will be inserted under the skin to suck the fat out of the body. Unfortunately, this rather rough procedure can also damage other important tissues which risks leaving a ‘lumpy, bumpy’ tone behind and may mean a longer recovery period.

When you’re considering liposuction, you need to weight up all the pros and cons; while the take-up on VASER lipo isn’t as too high as yet, it’s proving to be, by far, the safest and most effective method. VASER lipo targets only the fatty tissues which you want to be rid of, leaving everything else safe and intact.

Keeping the Fat Off After Lipo

images (1)If you undergo liposuction to get rid of some extra fat, then you’ll want to make sure you don’t put it back on straight after your operation! This doesn’t have to be difficult, though you do need to take caution when exercising post-surgery; gentle, simple exercise which don’t wear you out or slow down your healing are the best ways to ease you back into a healthy exercise regime after undergoing something like liposuction.

Just a few days after you’ve had the lipo, you can get your body moving around by making an effort to walk relatively short distances. If you’ve got access to a gym, you might feel brave enough to use the elliptical machines gently – but don’t wear yourself out too much on them, and don’t be tempted to use any machines which require more movement or flexibility than this.

More important is the approach to exercise you take in the long run. Liposuction isn’t a quick fix, and it isn’t something that will keep the fat off you for good. As with any other kind of weight loss, you need to eat a healthy diet and exercise regularly to stay slim post-lipo. Swimming, running, and cycling are all cheap, easy ways to keep your body in top shape post-lipo – but wait until you’re fully recovered to start on any of these!

Carole: My Vaser Lipo

Cosmetic Surgery Abroad

Today, Carole is here to tell us about her experience with Secret Surgery. Carole came to us for a tummy tuck first, and then came back for liposuction to complete her new look. You can read her story below.

How did it all start? After having a tummy tuck 5 weeks prior to my lipo it was time to go back to Poland for round two of my transformation. I had lost 8 stone in weight and my legs were a baggy, saggy mess!

And what did you want to have done? I was due to have lipo on the front, inside and rear of my thighs as well as around my knees. The first stage (front & inside of thighs) was supposed to have been done 5 days after my tummy tuck but due to my blood levels falling below a safe limit for surgery, I had to reschedule for all the Lipo to be done in March. As much as I was disappointed, I was also pleased that the surgical team were not willing to gamble with my health.

That’s good, and what about when you got here? March came and we arrived in Poland to 5 inches of snow, my medical was at the hospital on the same day and my bloods were normal… Phew! The morning of my operation Dr W came and asked me to show him exactly where I wanted the fat taken from, I showed him the areas that were a problem to me and he drew on these areas.

How were you feeling before the op? I was an emotional wreck before I went to the operating theatre, I couldn’t stop crying. I don’t know why I got myself so worked up, maybe it was because I knew it was an epidural and I wasn’t going to be asleep. After a few deep breaths and a good talk to myself I managed to calm down and was taken to the theatre.

How did it go? After my pre-med and sedation, I suddenly found that I had slept 2/3rds of the way through the operation. When I awoke Dr W was finishing off my legs and I was shown the fat they had taken out.. Yuk!! but it was very interesting to see.

Oh wow! And afterwards? I was taken to recovery where I stayed overnight, I was extremely sore and very swollen and thank God I had pain killers to help me cope with the pain. The next few days were very painful and I found myself walking Like John Wayne, sitting was difficult especially on a hard surface like the toilet! I didn’t sleep for long intervals for as soon as the painkillers wore off, I need more.

Did you heal quickly? It’s incredible that after about 4-5 days I was walking slowly into the town square, although still in pain I was able to cope with it. I found the recovery for this procedure was a lot quicker than the tummy tuck and I was able to get back to work a couple of weeks later. My legs are still a little bruised and swollen in places 4 weeks post op, but my support wear helps keep my legs secure and I can cope quite well with everyday life and work.

Excellent. Any final comments? I am just beginning to get back to exercise and although taking it slowly, I am getting there. I have had a great experience with secret surgery and the staff from the company and the medical staff in Poland. I am now saving for my 3rd procedure next year. Thank You to everyone concerned.

Give Yourself Some TLC Post-Lipo

liposuction-2You’ve had the surgery, and you’re on your way home… it’s all done, right? Well… not quite. There is a little thing called ‘aftercare’, and it’s just as important as… any other kind of care! If you want your surgeries to go off without a hitch, then caring for yourself afterwards – and making sure you get the right care from your professionals – really is of the utmost importance.

First off, it’s good to know just what to expect after lipo. It’ll take 1-3 months to fully recover from lipo, though the pain from the op should be gone in about a week or so. In terms of aftercare, there are quite a few things you can do to help yourself heal so much better:

  • Make sure you’re drinking plenty of fluids – but avoid alcohol
  • Keep the area of the surgery clean, and resist the temptation to apply ice packs – they’ll slow the healing process down
  • Change the bandages regularly, or when your surgeon has advised you to
  • Don’t expose the operated area to water – this could cause an infection
  • Wear light, comfortable garments
  • Make sure the pressure garment you wear post-surgery is the right size
  • Always keep help at hand!

If you follow this simple advice, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t heal in no time. Of course, this is general advice intended for most people; if your surgeon or consultant has given you more specific advice which may, in some cases, contradict our tips above – always follow your surgeon’s advice!

Shape Up for Christmas!

With only just over six weeks left until Christmas, it’s the time of year when we’re all scrabbling around the fruit and veg sections of the supermarket, trying to lose a few pounds before the holidays. I don’t know about you, but I’ll be seeing family members and friends for the first time in twelve months – and I want to look good!

Of course, this also means that here at Secret Surgery, we’re already experiencing the pre-Christmas rush; everyone wants to look their best for the festive period, and I don’t blame them, especially when my sister always insists on taking dozens of photos every year!

One way to ensure that you’re looking great for Christmas is a little vaser liposuction – it’s a quick way to smooth out your figure and shed a few pounds from your problem areas. Face lifts and other anti-ageing treatments are also popular at this time of year, as well all face up to the fact that another Christmas means we’re another year older – even if we don’t have to look it.

Now, there is one other reason we’re always busy at Christmas… surgery gifts! If you’re stuck on an idea for a Christmas gift for your loved one, why not treat them to a consultation with Secret Surgery? We’ve got clinics across the UK, and, after all, who wouldn’t want a makeover for Christmas?

The Truth about Lipo…

At Secret Surgery, we pride ourselves on honesty and great communication; after all, it’s what you ladies really want that matters, right? We know that cold salesmanship isn’t what’s needed in this industry, and we’re here to help you to make the best decisions you can – even if it means that deciding surgery isn’t for you.

That’s why, today, it’s time to debunk some myths about liposuction. Too many people are under the impression that liposuction is something it isn’t: that is, a cheap route to a thin bikini body. Well, here’s the big reveal: hat’s not how it works, and it’s not really what liposuction is for.

Losing weight is hard, and it’s no wonder that people will look for an easy option; nobody ever said it was easy. Unfortunately, liposuction won’t help you to lose a large amount of weight; in fact, there are limits on how much fat can be removed, and it isn’t that much.

So, what is liposuction for? It’s really just the icing on the cake, as it were. Maybe you’re just not that overweight, or maybe you’ve been losing weight for months but you just can’t shift those last few pounds – we can help you to do that. If you want something that will take you from ‘slim’ to ‘streamlined’, liposuction can help. It can also help you to target fatty areas – big bums and thunder thighs – that otherwise just don’t shift with exercise.

What we can’t do is make you lose pounds and pounds. Unfortunately, we need your help with that one.

Video Blog: My Boob Job and Lipo

We’ve got another Secret Surgery Story today, this time coming from a young patient who came to us for a boob job – and a little lipo. Here’s her story.

“I wanted a boob job and a little vaser liposuction, but couldn’t afford the 7-8K I was quoted at Harley Street. So a friend of mine recommended contacting Angela from Secret Surgery after she met her at a conference.”

“I contacted Angela and I’m really glad that I did, it’s totally changed my life for the better. She helped me out so much and she arranges the flights, the apartment, the hospital transfers, and as well as the surgery I even had a wonderful personal assistant in Poland called Aga.”

“Everything was thought about in advance and included. The price was around three grand less and the service was better than I could have ever imagined.”

“I would recommend Secret Surgery to anyone. In fact, I do recommend Angela to everyone that mentions cosmetic surgery. Thank you Angela, and a huge thanks to the wonderful doctor for his treatment. Keep up the wonderful work that you do at Secret Surgery dot co dot UK.”
